Kiera and Adlin became Mr. and Mrs. Hubbard on July 25th 2015. It was a day of sunshine and light showers, but that didn’t stop them from having a beautifully intimate outdoor ceremony just outside of the town of Fort Nelson, BC. Kiera and Adlin were surprisingly relaxed for such an important day; they let us lead them un-rushed all through the Fort Nelson Heritage Museum with nothing but smiles and an air of contentment.

The wedding theme had a bold red accent colour that caught the eye at every location. Whimsy’s Flowers and Gifts did an amazing job creating the gorgeous red bouquets and To Dye For Hair Studio worked their magic in the morning with the matching side up-do’s. Everything went off without a hitch…except for the actual hitch that is (ha ha), and it was such a pleasure for us to photograph their wedding.

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Hubbard!

It has taken me many attempts and many days to write a blog post about this stunning Kamloops wedding. There are so many wonderful things I wanted to tell you, that I had a hard time finding where to start.

I began making bullet points of what I wanted to talk about, trying to think of ways to tell a story of the day. But then I decided that instead of describing everything and stalling this post even longer, why not share exactly what I wrote down?

Here are the things we loved about Jacquie and Reily’s wedding:

  • The flowers totally matching the dresses
  • Jacquie’s lace pumps!
  • Her bracelet
  • How much the bridesmaids laughed – Hair & Make Up by Get Polished
  • Reily’s reaction when seeing his bride at their “First Look”
  • The location! – Tobiano Golf Course
  • James’ picture moment idea of the groom tossing the bouquet – too cute
  • How calm and cool they were throughout the whole day, including taking pictures in 35 degree heat with no shade, while roaming around the course in a golf cart
  • The first kiss dip
  • Reactions of all of the guests and bridal party to the speeches and embarrassing stories
  • The sunset golden hour photo opportunity
  • How lucky we were to have been able to photograph this wedding in Kamloops, BC

Congratulations Jacquie and Reily!

We will see you back up here in Fort Nelson soon.

This beautiful beach themed wedding was a great season starter for us and we had a lot of fun capturing the day.  The women of the bridal party began bright and early at To Dye For Hair Studio for the fun but arduous process of perfect bridal hair, which looked easy when done by the talented Michelle Locke and her apprentice Brittney. The men worked hard at the ceremony site making the final preparations before they retired to the house to prepare for the big day. Jamie and Ryan held their ceremony on their own acreage which was a perfect spot to gather the families and guests.

They had invited us to their house the night before the wedding, to go through the rehearsal of the ceremony so we knew exactly what was going to take place and where. We had also photographed their engagement session about 6 weeks before the wedding, and if you haven’t seen that blog post, click here.

Understanding their plans with a visual representation helped us take my favourite image of the wedding – the beach ball confetti! The entire wedding day (including the reception) had a fun tropical beach theme made possible by Final Touch Event Planning. It included bright colours, beach balls, leis, a sand aisle, and yes, tiki torches. The reception even included an adorable photo booth with a beach sunset poster as the background. Guests were encouraged to stick their polaroid onto a large board used as a photo guest book. An amazing buffet dinner was cooked by friends and family, and delicious cupcakes were given out for the wedding cake. We were even able to indulge my guilty pleasure at the candy bar at the back. Thanks for the memories, the beautiful pictures, and the belly ache that comes from too much delicious candy.

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Williams!

First and foremost, THANK YOU Jamie for telling me about this location. This spot is truly magical. When James and I went to scout it out, we brought along our 3 dogs and they loved running in and out of the water chasing butterflies (no joke!). After I posted a couple of images from this session on Facebook, I’ve had people ask me, where is this place??? This little dirt road off of the Alaska Highway was a beautiful choice for an engagement shoot.

Jamie and Ryan met through a former workplace and are raising their children (and 3 dogs!) in Fort Nelson. They’re such a wonderful couple to photograph as they moved and reacted naturally to each other. Ryan kept teasing Jamie by pretending to push her into the water and at one point I thought it might accidentally happen! The dock is just a few pieces of plywood nailed together and at first glance we didn’t trust it, but Ryan went out and jumped on it to prove it was safe. Jamie’s response was, if we fall in, we fall in!

We began the session at 8pm; an hour I would have never imagined for set up. I might keep saying it but I can’t believe how long the day lasts in Fort Nelson in the summer. When we first moved to Fort Nelson at the end of the summer last year, we were unpacking for hours in the daylight thinking it was 5pm when it was really 10pm!  The extended evenings give me so much more time to shoot in that perfect sunset glow. I love it!

Congratulations Jamie and Ryan! July is just around the corner and your wedding is going to be so much fun, I can’t wait!

I met up with Gillian and Don on New Years Day to discuss wedding plans and to shoot an engagement session. Gillian had some wonderful little spots in mind at Beach Grove Park, and we arrived as the sun was setting. I absolutely love that golden glow as it creates a romantic and magical mood. Molly, their adorable puppy, was just as photogenic and had a red leash to match their perfectly paired outfits.

Congratulations Gillian and Don! I’m so thrilled to be involved in the wedding of another fellow high school classmate!
