I have never spent a summer here in Halifax and had no idea what it could offer. I’m used to Vancouver summers and the staple events I have to attend such as the Celebration of Light, Richmond Night Market, Kits Beach, etc. (PS Vancouver, I miss you). However, I spent a couple of nights down at the Halifax Jazz Festival this past week and I was a) surprised by how many people come out for this event because usually Halifax seems so empty, and b) I found myself appreciating Jazz music like never before. I got to see Sophie Milman (who was all jazz), the Mellotones and Osaka Monaurail (who were both a mix of genres). I am a lover of mainstream “repetitive boppy music” as my parents like to call it, but I do love and enjoy the soul, energy and power of raw music played on stage. Forget lip syncing pop stars who dance more than they sing, because nothing compares to the emotion and true state of a live performance.
Just a few samples from a maternity shoot from yesterday! Thank you Trina and Kyle for letting me take your photos!
While trying to organize my files, I came across some old shots I did of a few adorable couples! For your viewing pleasure:
Messervey/Loughead family photos in the gardens! The sun was deceiving because it was super warm in the rays, but super cold in the shade. Little Alexzandrea lasted only a few quick shots on her own, but preferred to be in someone’s arms.
