I love everything about prom. The dresses, the hairstyles, the sparkles, and the anticipation. When I arrived, the daring Kathleen was out getting her hair CUT for prom! She is one of the only girls I have ever heard of to arrange a drastic haircut the day of the prom. The other girls and moms were waiting eagerly to see how it would turn out, and when she walked in the door, her girlfriends screamed in approval!

Tatamagouche had about 30 graduates this year, which is hard for me to believe, as I came from a high school of about 300 graduates. It was amazing to see such a small graduating class, giving such a definite sense of community. It was 30+ degrees with the sun blazing down on all of the grads, I can only imagine how hot the gowns and suits would have been. Furthermore, the last image taught me how challenging it is to shout direction to a large group of people in such hot weather, it almost took my voice for the day. The graduating tradition was to rent vehicles (mostly vintage looking) to ride around the town as their parade ceremony and I quickly took Kathleen aside to get a quick shot next to the unique firetruck.

Sneak Peek of Wedding Photos!

I met Katie and Vaughn through mutual friends, Sadie and Eric (who were the Emcee and Best Man), when I was down in Maitland doing Sadie’s maternity session. The wonderful couple was referred to me by Sadie to whom I owe many thanks.

Saturday April 20th 2013- My assistant Tracey and I headed down to Lantz, NS, where we met with Katie and her bridesmaids. The wedding party had rented out the beautiful 5-bedroom log cabin at Tidal Bore Rafting Park, and the ceremony and reception was held at the Shubenacadie Legion. It was a windy, rainy day but it didn’t stop the excitement at all! Katie was so excited to become “Mrs. MacDonald” that when the time came to sign the registry, she burst out with happiness (see photo below). Their wedding was so much fun to be a part of and everyone was having such a great time. As I have always said when people ask what I like about the Maritimes, the people here are so friendly and caring, and Katie and Vaughn are above and beyond. Congratulations, we hope you had fun in Jamaica!

Halifax Wedding Photographer

I wanted to do something fun, something creative, and something challenging! This photo was only a vision in my head until I had the help of so many wonderful people in the Halifax photography industry.

It started out with my fellow photographer friend Mike Phang and I talking about interesting ideas to shoot. He had the awesome idea of doing a spread like you see in Vanity Fair when they put out the “Oscar Nominees” or “Best Of” for the year. But then the ideas started to evolve into something that wasn’t so focused on the people in the picture, but rather a story in the image. Mike had been shooting behind the scenes of many of my shoots, so I thought, why not shoot a moment in behind the scenes, but just replace everyone with models?

I was very lucky to have so many people wanting to be involved, and I am also very thankful to be given the space and time to create this image.
