Fort Nelson Photographer – Cory and Wallace

When James and I first moved to Fort Nelson, we really didn’t know what we were getting ourselves into. We arrived in a UHaul with our car hitched to the back, hoping for the best. I was fully anticipating hibernating in the winter and keeping myself occupied with books and sewing; waiting for the day that we could leave. We had never thought that there would be so many other couples, just like us, who had moved up North for work. Over the past year, we have made our own little “crew’ who have become like family. We do weekly dinners and games, we help each other move, we call each other in the middle of the night if our trucks are stuck in the mud (and then help the next day to dig it out), we drive over at any hour to unlock doors when we’ve locked ourselves out, we take care of each other’s animals, we make the effort to meet each other’s [real] families, and we are simply there for each other when needed. We would not survive in Fort Nelson without them.

Cory and Wallace were one of the first people to welcome us into Fort Nelson. We shared the love for dogs and we bonded over walks and talking about photography. Wallace is a northern light chaser and creates wonderful images of the lights.

A year doesn’t seem very long to know somebody, but living in the North brings you closer. Our little Northern crew is going get a bit smaller when these two start their move down South at the end of the month. We will miss them, and we wish them all the best as they start a new chapter. I’m glad we were finally able to get a photo of the two of you.
